Wocket Wallet Product Launch Site
NXT-ID, a major biometric software company, was on the verge of a major public announcement of their new Smart Wallet product, Wocket, at CES 2015. The Wocket is the world’s first Smart Wallet. Wocket turns thousands of cards into just one WocketCard and the best part is, Wocket uses biometric voice security to keep all your information protected.
Wocket keeps your wallet thin, helps protect your identity, and reduces the number and types of cards you have to carry. Wocket protects whatever information you store in on a tamper-proof, encrypted chip protected by your biometric voice print. NXT-ID believes you should have full control over your information, so Wocket will never upload your card data to a server, or store it on an insecure device such as your smartphone.
NXT-ID put up a temporary teaser website in 2014 while the product was still in development and in pre-launch phase, and NXT-ID was collecting thousands of email addresses from customers who were interested in purchasing a Wocket when it became available. Once the launch window was within sight, NXT-ID knew they needed a fully functional product marketing and e-commerce site to allow customers to begin invite-only pre-orders after the CES announcement and eventually open up the purchasing process to the general public, so they reached out to Lightmaker to help strategize, design and build that new site.
Lightmaker’s background in simple and elegant e-commerce experiences, particularly with Shopify, was a key factor in NXT-ID’s decision making. Also the timeline for the project was extremely short, so it required an agency that was flexible and could work quickly and efficiently.
The biggest challenge was designing and developing the site into a single-page take over experience to scale onto multiple device sizes. The Lightmaker creative team wanted to make sure that every user had the same experience: to understand what the Wocket is, trust the product through engaging with it on the site and get excited about owning a Wocket.
Wocket Wallet's immersive experience to launch its revolutionary product
Lightmaker kept the design simple, making sure that the animations for the Wocket would work across all desktop and tablet browsers and the experience and information did not change. To optimize performance, our front end development team scaled down the scripting use and image sizes on mobile. By knowing the limitations ahead of time, along with what information was vital to show to the user, we were able to come up with a modular solution while still creating an engaging experience.
The Wocket launched successfully at CES in January 2015, and NXT-ID plans to roll out accessories and color variations of the Wocket to the market later this year. We’re excited to see what’s next for this truly innovative product.
