Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Chicago Symphony Orchestra Digital Experience
Founded in 1891, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is consistently hailed as one of the greatest orchestras in the world. In collaboration with the best conductors and guest artists on the international music scene, the CSO performs more than 100 concerts each year. Music lovers outside Chicago enjoy the sounds of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra through best-selling recordings and frequent sold-out tour performances in the United States and around the globe.
In keeping with the mission to reach as many listeners as possible, CSO worked with Brightcove and Lightmaker to build the CSO Sounds & Stories online multimedia magazine, designed to enhance the concert-going experience and to bring the CSO closer to music lovers worldwide. CSO Sounds & Stories is an extension of the main CSO website, and integrates audio and video recordings with original, high-quality content created by professional writers. The site previews coming programs, features articles and audio/video clips about Music Director Riccardo Muti, CSO musicians and visiting artists and includes program notes about the season’s concerts, festivals and themes.
Lightmaker designed the platform to be an integration of industry leading multimedia tools including Brightcove’s Video Cloud and Sound Cloud, which are all deployed within a WordPress content management environment, creating simple, fast access for CSO to add, edit and manage content. CSO can also serve advertising both on the web pages and within the content using Video Cloud.
With CSO Sounds & Stories, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra becomes the first major American orchestra to have a dedicated music journalism site.
