Sherrilyn Kenyon is a world renowned author who writes Urban Fantasy novels.  She has over twenty million copies of her novels in print worldwide and has appeared on the New York Times best seller list over 50 times.  In the past three years she has claimed the #1 spot sixteen times!!

The Challenges

To create a cohesive website design and experience that conveys the author’s brand while capturing the energy and mood of a wide range of novels. The site needed to intuitively display her myriad series, novels, and characters for her longtime fans and casual readers alike. The site needed to intuitively display her myriad series, novels, and characters for her longtime fans as well as casual readers alike. The site also had to serve as a portal or connection between author and fans giving insight into Sherrilyn’s life and allowing followers from around the globe to connect with her and each other.

The Solution

After many days of discovery and primarily scoping out the content taxonomy of Sherrilyn’s site, we felt the WordPress platform could do the job.  It did, however, take some extensive customizations on the Series, Novels and Characters components of the site as they are all tied to one another.  In addition to the WordPress platform we are leveraging Akamai as the CDN and YouTube and Twitter for key the social integrations. Sections were also included for international readers, media, publishers, newsletter sign-up, countdown clock for the next release, and galleries of fan created media.
