Better Regulation Executive

The British government made a pledge to cut unnecessary red tape and bureaucracy. To aid this, the Better Regulation Executive (BRE) was created. Part of their remit was to actively seek, listen to, and act where possible on ideas/suggestions made by the Public, Private and Third sectors. Previously, ideas have been submitted to Government Departments directly. This attracted criticism for good ideas disappearing into black holes.

This project centralised the submission of ideas and increased the transparency and accountability of Government. This was achieved through submission of all simplification ideas via the website, acceptance and management of the ideas by government departments through the bespoke CMS application, publicly displaying all submitted ideas on the website whether accepted or rejected.
