Orlando Magic wanted to add new features to its Web site to convey the excitement of the game, making the ticket-buying experience more intuitive and fun. The site originally used Macromedia Flash, but the Orlando Magic had goals for its site that Flash couldn’t support.
Orlando Magic contracted Lightmaker to prototype two features for the site using Microsoft Silverlight. This new technology from Microsoft delivers rich, cross-platform, interactive experiences, including animation, graphics, audio, and video. Silverlight will support new key engaging features on the Orlando Magic Web site: an e-commerce tool that lets site visitors customize and purchase team gear.
“Silverlight-based applications help us enhance the Orlando Magic brand and give our fans a fresh and exciting way to shop for tickets and NBA merchandise,” says Matt Gardner, Web Services Manager, Orlando Magic.
