Lightmaker developed and hosts a dynamic website that engages different types of users across many levels of Harry Potter knowledge, from the hardcore fan to the first time visitor, on a platform and architecture that handles large volumes of users from all over the world. Upwards of 1 billion users have visited the website since launch in May 2004.
Features such as the Room of Requirements which opens at specific times for set periods of time provide the fans with unique updates and fun ways in which to find and save hidden content, have proved to be a huge success. And the fan base waits in eager anticipation for the next set of updates.
In addition the accessibility features of Macromedia Flash MX 2004 ensure that the site delivers the magic of Harry Potter to children and adults with disabilities. This immersive and accessible site provides vivid descriptions for the blind, captions for the deaf and hard of hearing, and a zoom feature for people with low vision.
